Panama, June 27 (HS) Former world boxing champion Roberto “Hands of Stone” Duran has tested positive for Corona virus. Duran was admitted to the hospital on Thursday following flu-like symptoms.
“My father’s test report has arrived and he has been found positive,” Duran’s son Robin Duran wrote on his Instagram account.
“He is not showing any symptoms right now, just a common cold, he is not in intensive care, nor on a respirator, he is still under surveillance,” he added.
The 69-year-old boxer is sports icon in Panama and Latin America. He was considered the best lightweight boxer of his time. He boxed for nearly five decades, winning four different world titles.
Robin said he has been told by doctors that his lungs are fine and there are no signs of seriousness. He has asked people to have faith and said that everything will be alright.
In Panama, more than 29,000 Corona cases and 550 fatalities have been reported.
